I was getting kinda burnt out at the time of writing "Sticky." It seemed like nothing I tried was working, then I came up with the little string melody at the beginning. Then I recorded some percussion stuff with sticky notes and some random stuff on my desk like pens. The intro was very much inspired by Owl City, which I was listening to a lot at the time.
The second verse was inspired by "Catch Fire" by Periphery. I've always liked the slap bass and synth stuff in that song, along with the huge roomy drums. The vocals are definitely not Periphery-inspired tho lol. I'm just kinda doing my own thing.
lyrics
wake up
and you're stumblin'
feel that
existential dread
you let it
consume you
there goes
another perfectly good day
now wash it down the drain
it's a good day
to throw it all away
was it worth it?
what if you lose it all,
would you even care?
was it worth it?
and if you lose your soul,
would you even care?
if only we could forget
all that we've done
it's alright let's forget
sometimes i wish we could give up
on our stupid dreams
another perfectly good day
now wash it down the drain
it's a good day
to throw it all away
was it worth it?
what if you lose it all,
would you even care?
was it worth it?
and if you lose your soul,
would you even care?
another perfectly good day
now wash it down the drain
it's a good day
to throw it all away
was it worth it?
what if you lose it all,
would you even care?
was it worth it?
and if you lose your soul,
would you even care?
