I guess the day after I wrote "Piano Simp," I started "Broken." It originally started with a faster 12/8 idea with arpeggiated guitar chords. I sang a cringey melody on top of that and realized it had potential, but I didn't really like how it was sounding.
I then slowed it down a bit and came up with a more sparse guitar part. Then I came up with the verse vocal melody and lyrics at the same time. If I remember correctly, I came up with the chorus vocal part before any of the instruments, but who knows.
I really like the section after the second chorus. I was listening to a lot of Infinity Shred at the time, so I tried to make that section sound like them. It sounds sick, I really like the djenty dad-rock guitars.
lyrics
broken, shattered
planting the flowers in my garden
and it's december
the snow is coming down
i don't think we'll make it through
though we are lost, alone
know this won't last
we'll see it
lost, undone
true colors show;
iridescent
broken, fragile
pierce the skin with a knife
and watch as it bleeds
i know that it hurts
it's okay to feel
though we are lost, alone
know this won't last
we'll see it
lost, undone
true colors show;
iridescent
